Organic cosmeceuticals
The desire to create an organic cosmetics brand was born from our family history. Close to nature, but also aware of health issues related to the quality of the environment, our dermatologist mother strives to consider each person as a whole. The quality of our skin is a reflection of our balance. This includes a healthy and organic diet, regular exercise, and the use of natural and organic cosmetic products. She was one of the first dermatologists to recommend organic cosmetic products to her patients. It is essential for her to learn about the dangers of certain cosmetic ingredients and to prescribe the safest products. To this end, she is bringing traditional, natural, and tailor-made master preparations back into fashion. Always on the lookout for innovative products, we do not want to compromise on performance and pleasure, in favor of a non-toxic nature.
We then decided to create a brand that was both high-performance and organic, thanks to the selection of innovative natural ingredients.
What is cosmeceuticals?
The term “cosmeceutical” is a contraction of “cosmetic” and “pharmaceutical.”
It refers to products developed by doctors, highly concentrated in active ingredients. Alaena formulas were developed by Dr. Sylvie Peres, dermatologist. The elaborate rituals address specific skin problems such as acne, skin aging, loss of radiance, allergies, or even rosacea and couperose. The effectiveness of our formulas has been proven in the laboratory by in vitro tests and consumer tests. The selected ingredients are derived from biotechnology with extraction methods ensuring perfect safety for the skin and respect for the environment.
Hyaluronic acid is produced by wheat fermentation. Collagen and elastin production is reactivated thanks to red algae extracts. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are extracted from sugarcane, blueberry, maple, orange, and lemon.
It took two years of research to develop our patented COMPLEX G5® active ingredient made from sprouted seeds.
Alaena is thus the first organic cosmeceutical brand.
Ecocert certified organic cosmetics
At Alaena, being respectful of your health and the environment is part of our DNA because it is essential for our health and that of our children. However, this is not simple and requires monitoring at every stage of the product development process, from sourcing raw materials, through manufacturing with waste control, to the finished product and its packaging. Only an external certification body guarantees this and protects against greenwashing.
This is why we have chosen the European Ecocert Cosmos Organic label for the certification of our products.
To go further and as a precautionary principle, we are ahead of cosmetic regulations. Our product formulas are among the most skin- and environmentally friendly on the market (no parabens, synthetic fragrances, chemical preservatives, mineral oils, silicones, or ethylene oxide derivatives).
Alaena's quality charter excludes more than sixty cosmetic ingredients.
A responsible brand
We are committed to more transparent cosmetics, whether in terms of formulation, raw materials used, or production methods.
All our packaging is recyclable, and we favor the use of glass over plastic. All of our manufacturing is carried out in France, in an ecological approach that respects both people and the environment.
Our raw material suppliers have been carefully selected for the quality of their work and their ecological sensitivity.
Whenever possible, we favor local cultivation. This is the case, for example, with plum, camellia, and hemp vegetable oils produced in the Southwest, and red algae in the Arcachon Bay. But we also see skin as an ecosystem enriched by biodiversity. We are delighted to work with eco-responsible producers of chia in Argentina and kukui in Hawaii.
As stipulated by European cosmetic regulations, we do not carry out animal testing.
